Doctor in Egypt fired for wearing jeans at work

An Egyptian hospital manager and doctor has been fired from his post for wearing jeans to work

Dr. Mohammad Yahya Ismail who is Director of Beni Suef hospital for health insurance came to work wearing jeans and a casual t-shirt when he had to rush for a meeting with Head of Health Insurance Authority, Dr Ali Hijazi.

According to Al-Arabiya an official got angered by Ismail’s appearance and immediately fired him saying

"Don’t you know who are you meeting with today, you are dismissed from your duties starting from now."

He smiled back at the angry official telling him that his job was to treat patients not to wear fashionable clothes to work.

According to the rules of the hospital there is no dress code nor there is any restriction on wearing jeans or casual clothes.

To express solidarity and to protest against such irrational behavior of the officials earlier this week the whole staff wore jeans to work and soon after he was asked to join the hospital again.

He has now returned to work and is treating patients with liver disease.

As soon as the news broke over the internet people were not having it.

Absurd:

“What kind of stupidity is this?”

Not having the whole situation:

“Why is a jeans and T-shirt outfit considered inappropriate and disrespectful?! It's not like he was wearing shorts and a sleeveless shirt!”

“Vain appearances”:

“Respect for one's profession isn't about suiting up for it, you're focused on vain appearances.”

People were disgusted over this stupid and absurd case of Dr jeans who made rounds on the internet and has shown a lot of people how for him or any other person from such professions the health of their patients are top priority.
