Rapist dad gets 13-yr term and 2,000 lashes in Saudi Arabia

JEDDAH (Web Desk) - The General Court in Jeddah sentenced a father to 13 years in jail and 2,000 lashes of the whip for raping his daughter over a five-year period.

The court dismissed the demands of the public prosecutor for the death sentence, Ayn Al-Yom online daily has reported quoting Al-Watan.

According to the report, the Al Motnazahat police station in Jeddah received a call from a 22-year-old woman accusing her father of raping her over a period of five years.

The girl claimed that her father used to take the advantage of the absence of her mother and her brothers from the home.

The victim added that her father beat her and threatened her with expulsion from the home if she told her mother or any family member, the Emirates247 reported.

When the victim refused to respond to her father’s demands, he violently assaulted her and she was admitted to hospital for treatment.

After she was released from the hospital, he assaulted her once again. Distraught, the victim attempted suicide by swallowing some pills.

Evidence collected and subsequent investigations proved that the victim’s allegations against her father were all true.

The police arrested the father and he admitted all the charges against him.

After three court sessions, the presiding judge issued his verdict but dismissed the demand for the death sentence as the necessary conditions.
