LAHORE: A fire broke out in the upper storey of a plaza at famous Anarkali Bazaar in Lahore early Saturday leaving two people injured and destroying more than a dozen shops.
Local media reported that fire engulfed a plaza of Guddi Bazaar at Ganpat Road and later it extended to surrounding shops and buildings causing reportedly heavy destruction.
As many as 10 fire brigade vans of rescue 1122 and local district administration are busy in extinguishing the fire, while electricity supply has been suspended to this area.
The injured persons have been shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Rescue workers claim that the observation on ground suggests that the fire erupted because of short circuit.
Traders claimed they had incurred losses of tens of millions of rupees in this incident.
