CJP Saqib Nisar terms selling of fake stents ruthless act

ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar while hearing the case of fake stents in open court said that it is ruthless act that proper stents and medication was not available to cardiac patients.

A three-member bench headed by CJP, comprising Justice Atta Bandial and Justice Maqbool Baqar heard the case on Wednesday.

He further expressed that he had personally observed the plight of heart patients, adding that the qualitative treatment should be made available to the patients.

Justice Saqib Nisar also demanded report on stent registration till February 6, 2017 (Monday).

The bench also demanded reports about diagnosis facilities, breast cancer, liver transplantation and selling of donated blood and embezzlement in hospital funds.

The chief justice remarked that the selling of donated blood was an unforgivable crime.

Earlier, the chief justice had issued notices to all four provincial Health secretaries, Federal Investigation Agency director general, Drug Regulatory Authority DG in the case and ordered to initiate open court hearing.
