LAHORE: The PML-N, which ruled in federation and Punjab for five years, said that it should not be held responsible if electricity loadshedding occurs again as its government’s tenure ended on May 31.
Addressing the last press conference, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, “Today, the outage is at its minimum though the mercury soars. But as our government is completing its tenure tonight, the public should blame the caretaker government and not me or Nawaz Sharif if the loadshedding recurs after tomorrow”.
The Punjab government generated over 5,000 megawatt using its own resources, while the federal government also took steps, drastically cutting power loadshedding,
Shehbaz Sharif also warned of massive destruction if elections were not conducted in a transparent manner.
He said, “Democracy will flourish and the country will develop only if the general elections are held in a free and fair manner. But, there will be a big destruction if fairness of the exercise is compromised in any manner”.
He also rejected the Islamabad High Court decision to null and void delimitation of constituencies as well as the Balochistan Assembly resolution seeking a month-long delay in the polls set to be held on July 25.
