Terror plot on Pakistan Day parade foiled

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Islamabad police on Sunday foiled a terrorist plot planned for Pakistan Day parade on March 23, local media reported.

According to police officials, two suspects were held from Ghouri Town in connection with the attack on Qasar-e-Sakina imambargah on February 19 and they confessed to planning an attack. A huge stash of weapons was also seized.

Earlier in February, it was announced that a joint military parade of Pakistan’s armed forces would take place on Pakistan Day after a gap of seven years.

The decision to resume the military parade appeared to be a manifestation of the military’s show of strength following the attack on Army Public School in Peshawar last year.

The last military parade took place in 2008 during the tenure of Pervez Musharraf as a civilian president.
