MUMBAI (Staff Report) – Bollywood star actress Anushka Sharma, who is often quoted as the best of the new generation of actors in Indian media, is celebrating her 28th birthday today (Sunday).
Born in Ayodhya on 1 May 1988, and raised in Bangalore, Anushka started her modeling career with an assignment for the fashion designer Wendell Rodricks in 2007. Later on, she moved to Mumbai to pursue a full-time career as a model.
However, following an audition at Yash Raj Films in Mumbai, she made her screen debut opposite to Shah Rukh Khan in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008. For her lead role in the movie, Anushka earned her first Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress category.
In 2012, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in SHah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif starer Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
In 2014, ANushka Sharma had her biggest commercial success with the role of a television reporter in the fantasy drama PK, which is ranked as the highest-grossing Indian film of all time. Amir Khan appeared as lead star in the film.
Currently, Anushka Sharma is busy filming Karan Johar’s romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan. Meanwhile she is also working on Sultan where she is appearing as lead star opposite to Salman Khan.
