On Wednesday, acclaimed American author George RR Martin announced that he was set to release a new book. However, the book which is to be released in November will not be the much anticipated sixth book in the famous Game of Thrones series, to the disappointment of fans of the saga worldwide.
According to the author’s blog, the new book is still set in Westeros, albeit a few centuries before Game of Thrones. However, Martin did put emphasis on the fact that the book is not as much a novel as it is a sort of historical background for the Targaryen dynasty.

Martin has been working on the book since 2012 which is available for pre-sale online.
Martin said regarding the sixth installment, “No, winter is not coming… not in 2018, at least.” The five volumes of Game of Thrones were published by Martin from 1996 to 2011 and fans eagerly await the sixth installment.
The series which has won a record 38 Emmys has not exactly followed Martin’s work and has taken a lot of liberties with the story line and plot.
