SRINAGAR – Indian troops in their continued acts of state terrorism martyred 42 Kashmiris, including a woman, during the last month of September, in Indian occupied Kashmir.
According to the data compiled by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, of those martyred one youth was killed in a fake encounter. The killings rendered five (5) women widowed and twelve (12) children orphaned.
During the period, 231 people were injured in the firing of bullets, pellets and teargas shells on peaceful protesters by Indian troops and police personnel.
As many as 399 people including Hurriyet leaders, activists and youth were arrested during the month.
The authorities also imposed black law Public Safety Act over a dozen Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Shakil Ahmad Bakhshi, a partially pellet-blind Suhail Ahmad Trumboo, Maulana Salim Ahmad Dar, Firdous Ahmad Shah, Adil Hussain, Ishfaq Ahmad Parray, Gowhar Hassan Parray, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Bilal Ahmad Parray, Peer Ghulam Mohi-ud-din and Advocate Hussian Ahmad, and lodged them in different jails in Jammu region.
The authorities also disallowed people to offer Friday prayers two times at the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.
Sixty-five (65) residential houses were damaged and destroyed by the Indian troops, paramilitary forces and police personnel during the siege and search operations and disgraced and molested fourteen (14) women in the month.
