ISLAMABAD – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been directed to initiate an inquiry against Capital Development Authority and Mayor Islamabad for converting Rs1.90 billion Citizens Club to Metropolitan Club.
The chairman of the anti-corruption watchdog, Justice (r) Javed Iqbal also directed the bureau to investigate under which law the mayor of Pakistan’s capital city authorised the club’s conversion and then handed its charge over to a private firm.
The state-of-the-art recreation facility at F-9 Park was completed in 2017.
Spread over sprawling 22 acres, the Citizen Club offers recreational facilities including swimming pools, ladies and gents spa, fitness centre, gymnasium, library, billiards room, lawn tennis, jogging track, large car parking, restaurant, bakery among other services.
The Club comprises conference rooms, banquet hall and 56 suits.
