New Sindh CM halves his protocol, creates WhatsApp group for cabinet

KARACHI – Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday ordered his principal secretary to half his protocol, in addition to setting an example of punctuality for others by arriving at his office at the new Sindh Secretariat building at 9am.

“I don’t believe in unnecessary protocol and pomp and show … this huge cavalcade of protocol causes problems in the smooth flow of traffic,” he said.

The principal secretary informed the chief minister that nine vehicles or police mobile vans usually moved with the chief minister for his security. The chief minister asked him to reduce them by four. The order was implemented straightaway, said the spokesman.

The new CM also created a Whatsapp group titled ‘Cabinet’ for his cabinet members to keep him informed about their activities. The group has been created for review of ministers’ performance and better coordination.

Earlier, the chief minister visited legendary cricketer Hanif Mohammad at the Aga Khan University Hospital and inquired about his health.

He prayed for his early recovery and added with enthusiasm that he was a big fan of the legendary cricketer. He asked the health secretary accompanying him to ensure that Hanif received the best service at the hospital.

He also announced Rs 1 million as financial assistance for his medical treatment and other expenditures. “He is an asset of the country and he must be honored accordingly,” said Mr. Shah.
