Decision to establish 30 new anti-terrorism courts

KARACHI (Web Desk) Corps Commander Karachi Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar has said that he himself is investigating the yesterday’s attack of military police.

IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali has said that police too is investigating the incident.

It was decided during the meeting of Sindh Apex Committee chaired by Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah to establish 30 new Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) and to stringently monitor the Sindh-Balochistan border.

The meeting viewed the actions taken under the National Action Plan. The meeting was attended by Corps Commander Karachi, IG Sindh, DG Rangers and other high officials.

High ranking personalities expressing anger at IG Sindh directed him to improve the performance.

According to reports Corps Commander Karachi said that he himself is investing the attack on soldiers yesterday. In reply IG Sindh said that police too is investigating the incident.

DG Rangers Major Gen Bilal Akbar asked to further better the prosecution process because arrested suspects get released by the courts.

Sources informed that in a briefing the sensitive institutions have expressed concern about Jacobabad-like attack on Chehlum of Hazrat Husain (R.A) and involvement of a Jihadi outfit in the attack on military police.

Briefing the media after the meeting Advisor Information Sindh said that meeting decided to establish 30 new ATCs and induction of 8,000 police personnel.

He said that arrangements are completed for Local Bodies elections in Karachi. Further accelerating Karachi Operation and increasing the number of check posts at Sindh-Balochistan border was also decided in the meeting.
