PM Nawaz to visit Sahiwal to review construction of 1320MW power plant

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will Tuesday review progress on the construction of country’s first 1320MW Sahiwal Coal-fired Power Plant.

The project is being undertaken under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The plant will go into production by end of the next year.

After completion, it will help in reducing energy crisis in the country, and will be a symbol of Pakistan- China friendship.

The plant will consume four million tons coal annually.

A new conveyor belt is being installed at Port Qasim to meet the heavy requirements of coal for power generation.

The coal will be transported through rail link to the plant.
