RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Troops have been put on alert in Rawalpindi for rescue services for any possible flood threat in Lai nullah, according to a statement released by Inter Services Public Relations.
The water level in the nullah has gone up after the intermittent rainfall across the country.
An emergency has been declared in Rawalpindi and surrounding areas, warning people of possible flooding. Roads, main arteries and streets in the city are almost impassable for motorists and pedestrians alike.
Meanwhile, at least eight people have been killed in different rain-related incidents in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
