ISLAMABAD – The supreme court of Pakistan has directed former president, General (r) Pervez Musharraf to submit his reply on whether he would return to Pakistan or not, by October 11th.
Hearing a case regarding the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) on Tuesday, the court remarked that the former president would not be arrested until he appears before the supreme court.
A three-member bench headed by the chief justice, Mian Saqib Nisar also assured the counsel for Musharraf, Akhter Shah that Rangers would be deployed for safeguarding the former president.
Shah argued that too many cases have been filed against Pervez Musharraf upon which the top judge remarked that the apex court would summon the record of each and every case, clarifying the ‘Musharraf should return as he is a valiant commander’.

The counsel for the for military-chief-turned-president argued that Musharraf was suffering from an ailment of serious nature, and he was also not able to see him.
‘A report can be submitted before the court in this regard as well,’ argued Shah.
The chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar also observed that if Musharraf was suffering from the ache in the back, he would be provided treatment in Pakistan as well.
‘We [bench] will direct Naeem Bukhari to supervise cleanliness at the Chak Shehzad farmhouse,’ remarked the top judge.
The court then adjourned the hearing till October 11.
During the last hearing of the case in September, the supreme court had accepted a slew of conditions put forth by former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf for returning back to the country, he ruled from October 1999 to August 2008 with an iron fist.
