Army chief visits flood hit Layya, reviews relief operation

RAWALPINDI (Staff Report) – Chief of the army staff General Raheel Sharif on Monday visited the flood hit areas of district Layya and reviewed ongoing relief operation, said DG ISPR Major-General Asim Bajwa in his twitter feed.

According to details, COAS advised the commanders of Pakistan Army to stay vigilant and take every possible step to help those affected by recent floods. He urged that all resources should be used for timely response to the calamity.

General Raheel expressed his deepest regret over the devastation and loss to life and property, said DG ISPR.

On the occasion army chief also met the temporarily displaced people (TDPs) of North Waziristan who are currently residing in Layya and assured them safe return to their homes. TDPs thanked him for successful operation against militants and cleansing the homeland.
