Int l day of Persons with Disabilities observed in Pakistan

LAHORE – International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed on Monday across the world including Pakistan to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and to increase awareness about persons with disabilities belonging to political, social, economic and cultural spheres of life.

This year theme of the day is “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”.

The aim of observing the day is to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development.

The day also raises awareness about the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

Since 1992, the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) has been annually observed on 3 December around the world.

This theme focuses on the empowering persons with disabilities for the inclusive, equitable and sustainable development envisaged in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In this connection, many organizations in the country, including Directorate General of Special Education and Government of Pakistan, organized different programmes.
