Enough is enough, now govt must hold LG polls: SC

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed anger over unnecessarily delay in local government elections, a judge remarked that the polls must be held on dates given by the court today, local media reported.

As per reports, a three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Jawad S Khawaja heard the case pertaining to local government elections.

During case hearing, Justice Jawad S Khawaja questioned that which hurdle is delaying the polls. The elections have not taken place for the last five years.

We are tired of giving dates. In this case, the LG elections will not take place in the next 10 years, the judge observed.

Justice Khawaja said that the court has only one option now as it is issue of contempt of court.

Meanwhile, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany remarked that the court will give dates for holding of local government elections today and the authorities will have to implement the order.
