Civil, military leadership determined to weed out terrorism

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that Pakistan was determined to take all measures for eliminating terrorists without any discrimination of geographic region, color or sect.

He was chairing a high-level security meeting in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Nisar Ali Khan, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, National Security Advisor Nasser Khan Janjua and DG ISI Lt. General Naveed Mukhtar.

The Prime Minister stated that consensus across the board for getting rid of terrorism and extremism guarantee a comprehensive win in this war. He added that Pakistan has given immense sacrifices in its own war on terror.

Participants of the meeting reviewed the gains of ‘Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad’; unanimously pledged that action would continue till the logical end of the menace.

They further reiterated that national unity and support were indispensable for successful implementation of the anti-terror strategy.

It may be mentioned here that the countrywide military operation – ‘Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad’, or ‘Elimination of evils’ – had been launched days after a series of deadly militant attacks killed more than 115 people across Pakistan in just over a week, including civilians, policemen and soldiers.
