Two killed as gunman opens fire inside Florida yoga studio

TALLAHASSEE – A gunman killed two people and left several others injured at a yoga studio in Florida’s state capital Tallahassee on Friday before apparently killing himself, the local police chief said.

Detailing the incident, police chief Michael DeLeo said at about 5:47 pm, the police department responded in reference to a shooting and upon arriving on scene, the officers found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

First responders transported five people to a nearby hospital, with two later succumbing to their wounds, DeLeo said and added that one of the victims was pistol-whipped.

The top cop said there are indications that several people inside the studio retaliated and tried to not only save themselves but their fellows as well, which is a testament to their courage.

Apparently, the shooting is the act of a single person with no further threat to the community perceived at this time, according to the police chief who did not name the shooter.

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum tweeted that he was deeply appreciative of law enforcement´s quick response to the shooting at the yoga facility.

Gillum clarified that no act of gun violence is acceptable.
