LAHORE – A prominent journalist has predicted PML-N’s estranged leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan may join Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) during the latter’s rally at Minar-e-Pakistan, scheduled to be held on April 29.
“I am sure former interior minister Nisar Ali Khan is quitting and Imran Khan, the PTI chief, had already invited him [Ch Nisar] to join PTI”, Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain said this during his program on local TV last night.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Dr Arif Alvi invited the former minister to join the party.
Talking to media in Hyderabad, Arif Alvi said that Nisar is a nice man but he is being surrounded by ‘bad people’.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has a right guess that it cannot win the upcoming elections as PTI will make the next government, Alvi added.
Responding to a question, the PTI leader said the courts perform their duties where governments fail to serve people.
On Monday, Ch Nisar met Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore and shared his reservations about the party’s affairs. The meeting came in the backdrop of Chaudhry Nisar’s refusal to accept Maryam Nawaz as her leader.
The veteran politician has publicly criticised the ousted PM’s daughter and other leaders of the PML-N on their policy in the Panama Papers case. He is also fully opposed to Maryam’s possible elevation as party’s head.
Reports suggest Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has failed to convince Ch Nisar to meet Nawaz Sharif. He has asked disgruntled party leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan not to part ways with the party, it has been reported.
Shahbaz Sharif wanted Ch Nisar to meet Nawaz Sharif so as to remove misunderstanding in a one-on-one meeting, to which Nisar declined, saying it’s not the right time.
