MARDAN – Government has inaugurated the pink bus service for women in KPK, a hassle-free travelling and ensured safety for ladies living in KPK.
The new separate transport facility, particularly for ladies, has been started in Mardan, initially, it will have 10 newly buses painted in Pink colour chosen for Women passengers which would facilitate the commuters on many routes.
Trans Peshawar board Official said people are generally more concerned and overprotective for the safety of their loved ones especially women and children, adding, Pink Ride will offer a safe and comfortable experience for the female commuters.
He said Pink Bus service in KP is set to remove barriers for the females by empowering them with reasonable monetary benefits.
Officials said the project would go a long way in facilitating the women after the start of these Pink buses in Mardan KPK government would further expand this project in Abbottabad city which was already planned and in final stages.
The official said Fourteen Pink buses were donated from Japan’s government to KP province.
He further shared that the bus will be available for the lady citizens from morning till 10 pm. Each bus has a capacity of 40 seats but passengers can also stand in the bus as they travel, official says. Additional security and safety measures have also been provided within the bus, he added.

He also stated that the facilities within the bus first aid kits are also available for emergency as well as special bus controls and for safety measures.
A young student while sharing her experience with local media of travelling on the ‘pink bus service’ said that “I was excited and happy that finally, females can now travel with peace as in local buses, they have to face harassment and many bullies; this pink bus project was a good hope.”
In May last year, the United Nations Office on Project Services had handed over 14 pink buses worth Rs100 million to the KP government to operate as women-only transport service in Mardan and Abbottabad districts.
Previously the launch of the service was delayed for about a year due to the disinterest of the transport companies.
