KARACHI – Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Sunday cancelled the party’s basic membership of its member of National Assembly (MNA) Syed Ali Raza Abidi.
According to a press release issued by MQM-P, Abidi has been sacked for violating the organizational policies.
It read that he has been asked for the past three months to work under the ambit of the policies adopted by the party after August 23, 2016 when Altaf Hussain’s diatribe against Pakistan dented the whole party.
On August 22, 2016, MQM founder Altaf Hussain had delivered an anti-Pakistan speech that led to violence in Karachi.
Since then MQM-Pakistan led by Farooq Sattar disassociated the party from MQM London secretariat and Altaf Hussain. Sattar had said that future party decisions would be made by the MQM Rabita Committee in Pakistan.
The press release stated that Ali Raza Abidi has also been directed to resign as MNA.
