Like sisters and mothers, best friends could make you cry and break your heart, but in the end, they’ll be there, making you laugh even in your darkest hours.
If you have certain people in your life whom you call your best friends for the past 15 years, you can totally relate to these 13 things:
1. You were there to see their ‘puberty waala phase’.
You saw their braces, their uncontrollable acne, their fuzzy moonch that begins to make its debut, their really questionable fashion trends (goth eyes), and even the one friend who cut her own bangs. You’ve been through it all together – and oh, you still have proof that it all happened!
2. Sitting in silence with them wouldn’t bother you one bit.
Sometimes just scrolling through your phone while lounging on the sofa for hours is your favourite pastime with them – and no one seems to mind.
3. It’s impossible for your BFF to be someone else’s BFF.
4. “I miss you guys” texts in the group chat are a norm whether you met a year ago or just yesterday.
But once that’s said it goes straight back to the usual sarcasm and insults.
5. Growing up you were probably mistaken as siblings because you were with each other 24/7.
Anywhere you went, people saw you together and if one was missing, they’d ask you where the others are. Grocery shopping or window shopping, you guys are buddies for life! Your mothers have a hotline system going on to track your movements because it’s always likely that you’ll be together.
6. You could probably write a novel about each others dramatic lives.
You know pretty much everything about them – from their fifth-grade crushes to their O/A Level version of ‘love’, from the time you guys teamed up against a bunch of girls to the times your whole group got suspended for doing so (of course because of the intense level of unity). #GirlPower
7. There are no boundaries. (No, Literally)
You share any and everything that happens to you with absolutely no worries as to what the others might think, because let’s face it, you’re all past the judging phase.
8. Your family loves your BFFs (Especially the ammi jaans who take this job very seriously)
Your mother keeps reminding you of how amazing your BFFs are by saying things like these to you:
“Rumsha, Afifa ko dekho, kitna acha tayar hoti hain, tumse tou muh nahi dhoya jaata!”
or
“Minaahil kitna acha khana bna leti hai, tum us se hi ja ker seekh lo.”
9. When one of you is sad, it’s not just your problem, it’s a conference call including all of you.
10. You’ve been friends for so long you have your own traditions.
Whether it’s your favourite restaurants for dessert, or wearing Pink on Wednesdays, you have your traditions set right!
11. When you fight, it’s intense, just like your love.
You have had so many petty fights and major fights that they seem to be necessary fights now – they strengthened your bond.
12. You plan to put your kids in the same schools, make sure they become best friends and envision your future together as 50 year old ladies.
Mainly because you know your kids will also be as weird as you and will need others of your kind for support all the time.
13. Distance never matters to any of you.
No matter the distance between all of you, it’s like an international party in the group chats!
