Budget 2016/17: New dam in Islamabad to be built for Rs. 22 bn

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The federal government has planned to erect the Kasana Dam to meet the burgeoning needs of agriculture and potable water supply in Islamabad at a cost of Rs 22.28 billion.

Under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) announced during Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s budget speech in Parliament on Friday, Rs 200 million have been set aside for construction of the Rain Water Harvesting dam in the current fiscal year.

The project was approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in March 2015.
