Peshawar Zalmi players land in Lahore for PSL final amid fanfare

LAHORE – Peshawar Zalmi cricketers landed in Lahore to play the final of Pakistan Super League season 2 scheduled to be held on Sunday.

Zalmi’s headed back to the country on Saturday morning after overpowering Karachi Kings in second play-off as Kamran Akmal’s impressive century led Zalmi to beat Kings by 24 runs.

The cricketers who returned from Dubai include fast bowler Wahab Riaz, wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal,Imran Khan junior, Hassan Ali, Muhammad Asghar and Muhammad Hafeez.

Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi accompanied by his cricketers took to Twitter to announce their return however no foreign player could be seen in the uploaded picture.

Earlier, Javed had expressed that foreign players of Zalmi would also take part in thrilling PSL contest although no foreign player has yet arrived in Pakistan but reports are rife that they would be arriving by tonight.

Eoin Morgan, Chris Jordan, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Marlon Samuels,  Andre Fletcher, Dawid Malan, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal are Zalmi’s foreign players led by captain Darren Sammy.

Seasoned commentator Rameez Raja, former fast bowler Azhar Mehmood and Waqar Younis also reached Lahore. PSL chairman Najam Sethi also arrived in Lahore to personally monitor the arrangements for the much awaited event.

It may be mentioned here that Shahid Afridi would not be participating in final match as he was injured while attempting to catch a drive from Kieron Pollard off Hassan Ali at covers at a catch-able height.
