ISLAMABAD: The government announced on Wednesday a three-day holiday on the occasion of Eidul Fitr – from June 26 to 28.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Interior said June 26, 27 and 28 (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) would be holidays.
This year Eidul Fitr is likely to be on June 26 or 27 subject to the sighting of the Shawwal moon. Eid-ul- Fitr is the Islamic holiday that marks the end of Ramzan. For many years, Ramazan and Eid have been observed in parts of K-P a day before the rest of the county, based on the announcement from Popalzai.
Like the start of Ramzan, during which believers abstain from eating and drinking during daylight hours, Eid-al-Fitr depends on the sighting of the moon and its celebration varies in different countries.
The day begins with early morning prayers and then family visits and feasts.
