LONDON: Meghan Markle is the most unique royal we might see yet, with her proud Los Angeles upbringing and her acting background, the 36 year old’s sense of style has been anything but royal prior to her wedding announcement with Prince Harry.
Now, Ms Markle has a definite fashion code to follow which counts out any ripped jeans or a plunging neckline. The Suits actress has even shut down her Instagram account, which may not have contained pictures suitable of a royal bride. Although there were doubts about whether the age old traditions that govern all royal’s lives would affect Meghan, it seems even she cannot escape them.

According to a former butler in the House of Windsor, “Royal dress codes are very traditional, especially when the family member is carrying out royal duties.” The former etiquette expert also added that Ms Markle would do well to take inspiration from Kate Middleton. “As we have seen with the Duchess of Cambridge, hats are part of the royal dress code and it is likely that we will see Meghan Markle wearing hats more often.”
The lengths of the royal newcomer’s clothing will also be closely monitored and Meghan should say goodbye to any over the top nail polishes, “The outfits are more of a personal decision, but dresses should always be the correct length of on or below the knee, and never above,” he added.

Markle who is a true Californian has initially always been most comfortable in flip flops and shorts, however once she starred in the hit series Suits, she felt her own style becoming more chic, “The fashion on Suits is gorgeous, so it also became my education of designers and really knowing what fits my body well,” she said in an interview. “On a normal day, I love a shift dress with flats and a little cropped jacket. I would probably wear jeans, a nice top and a blazer.”

According to Christine Ross, who edits a blog dedicated to Ms Markle’s style, “Meghan will definitely bring a youthful, vibrant change to the royal family. She is very different from the other royals, being an American with a diverse upbringing, and this will naturally give her a different outlook.”
