NAB seeks record of Musharraf and his family’s assets in Lahore

LAHORE – Pakistan’s anti-corruption watchdog on Saturday directed authorities to present documents regarding the ownership of properties and assets of former military dictator Pervaiz Musharraf and his family in Lahore.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), in a letter to additional district collector revenue, sought records of property ownership of Gen (r) Pervaiz Musharraf, wife Sehba Musharraf, daughter Alia Raza, among others, in Lahore.

Earlier this week, the Bureau had directed Musharraf to hand over details of vehicles registered in his and his family’s names.

NAB wrote letter to the excise department as part of its probe into Musharraf’s assets, which are allegedly disproportionate to his declared sources of income.

The NAB asked for details of vehicles owned by Musharraf’s wife, mother, daughter and son-in-law.

According to the excise department, Musharraf’s wife, Sehba, is the only one from Musharraf’s family with a registered vehicle – land cruiser – in Lahore.

On April 21, the NAB decided to interrogate the former president for holding ‘disproportionate’ assets as well as ‘wrongful use of power’.
