MULTAN – An anti-terrorism court on Saturday handed an 18-year jail term along with a fine of Rs200,000 fine to a man who had hurled a shoe at a civil judge in Multan.
Muhammad Ejaz, who was under-trial in a robbery case, received the prison sentence by Justice Malik Khalid Mehmood at the ATC room number one, the Express News reported.
On March 22, the ‘heartbroken’ man had hurled a shoe at a judge, Zahid Qayum, in the courtroom as he had been languishing in jail despite his bail orders being issued.
According to Multan Cantonment police, Ejaz had raised a hue and cry, saying that the court had granted him bail but he had not been released for the past one year due to absence of release orders.

Mr Qayum was hearing the case when all of a sudden the accused hurled his shoe at him. Soon after the incident, the judge left the courtroom and went to his chamber. Police had immediately arrested the man and took him to the lock up.
The police revealed that before throwing the shoe, the accused had hurled death threats to the judge and demanded acquittal in the theft case.
