ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Zunaira Irfan from Islamabad won the first prize of Rs.50,000 in a painting competition organized by ministry of Climate Change on the theme “Climate Change: Pakistan’s Resilience”.
The second prize of Rs. 35,000 was awarded to Unza Mutahir of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro, Sindh. While the Third prize of Rs.20,000 was awarded to Nadia from National College of Arts, Islamabad.
The purpose of the competition was to sensitize the public and create awareness on climatic change issues.
This event was organized for strong representation of Pakistan as side event and show casing of Pakistan at COP-21 going to be held by end of this year in France.
The students from all over the country including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir participated in the competition.
The panel of Judges included Mansur Rahi (Artist), Hajra Mansur (Artist), Mussarat Nahid Imam, Director Visual Art of PNCA and Nasir Chattha, section Officer, Ministry of Climate Change.
A collection of paintings prepared by the students of various universities highlighting the Climate change issues was put on display here Wednesday at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).
