Info minister for close cooperation with UK to end money laundering

LONDON – Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Thursday underlined the need for close cooperation with the United Kingdom to end money laundering.

The information minister expressed this during a meeting with Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Minister for Human Rights and United Nations Lord Tariq Ahmed.

The FCO minister welcomed the proposal and assured of full cooperation by Britain.

Hussain also updated him on the socio-economic development agenda of the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Lord Tariq said British Prime Minister Theresa May appreciated the positive developments taking place in Pakistan.

The minister discussed with him ways for collaboration on curbing hate speech on social media. He put forward the proposal to develop an international regulatory regime against inciting hatred and violence on social media.

He said establishing the rule of law was the government’s priority, adding extremism was a global problem and needed global efforts to put an end to the menace.

Taking note of the good relations between the United Kingdom and Pakistan, the two sides agreed to work together to further strengthen mutual cooperation in diverse areas.
