Masood, Younis centuries bring Pakistan close to victory

PALLEKELE (APP) – Pakistan, set a victory target of 377 runs, were 214 for two in their second innings on the fourth day of the series-deciding third Test in Pallekele on Monday.

Shan Masood was unbeaten on 114 and Younis Khan was on 101, the pair having put the best third wicket partnership of 217 runs after Pakistan were reduced to 13-2.

Earlier, Sri Lanka were dismissed for 313 just before lunch with skipper Angelo Mathews last man out for 122.

The series is tied at 1-1 after Pakistan won the first Test in Galle by 10 wickets and Sri Lanka took the second in Colombo by seven wickets.

Pakistan require another 147 runs with 8 wickets remaining.
