Punjab schools announce two-day strike against Education Authority Bill

LAHORE (Staff Report) – Private schools in Punjab capital city are likely to be closed for two days after Pakistan Education Council announced a strike on Sunday.

According to Council’s spokesperson, the A-category schools will not open on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The spokesman also demanded of the Punjab government to reverse its decision of forming an Education Authority.

Meanwhile, the All Pakistan Private School Association President Adeeb Jawdani distanced itself from the strike call given by the two representative bodies.

He said the schools will remain open as the examinations are continued.

The bill aims to regulate the private schools and bars them to increase in fee without bringing it to the notice of higher authorities. The bill also strictly restrains private schools from asking the students to buy uniform or books from any specific shop.
