ISPR says the man shown being hanged in TTP video was not ISI official

RAWALPINDI (Staff Report) – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has dismissed the latest claim of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in which the militant group said they have hanged an official of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

TTP had released a video on Sunday showing a man being hanged in North Waziristan area of Pakistan. In the video the man also said that he was a soldier of Pakistan army and have been working with ISI.

According to Director General ISPR Lt General Asim Bajwa the claim made by Taliban insurgents is completely false and baseless. The man shown in their video is neither an army soldier nor an ISI official, he declared.

An unnamed senior government official said the man shown being hanged in the video was originally an Afghan national who crossed the border mistakenly. Intelligence reports confirmed that Taliban arrested him and asked for a ransom from his family, upon their failure to pay ransom money the group hanged him, the official added.
