Lahore blast facilitator among 10 terrorists of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar killed in operation

LAHORE – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claims to have killed ten terrorists of the banned outfit that was involved in Mall Road bomb blast on February 13, in a shootout in the provincial capital on Friday night.

The CTD was taking the arrested facilitators, including Anwarul Haq and Atta-ul-Rehman to Manawan for recovery of explosives when their accomplices ambushed the team. In retaliatory fire, 10 terrorists were killed including the facilitators of the attack, reported Geo TV.

The CTD officials said the terrorists killed in the ‘encounter’ at Manawan area were affiliated with banned Jammat-ul-Ahrar and were involved in the Mall Road suicide attack.

The three terrorists have been identified as Imam Shah, Irfan Khan and Abdullah, while identification of others killed is not clear.

At least 13 people were martyred and more than 80 others wounded in the deadly suicide blast outside the Punjab Assembly near Mall Road in February this year. DIG City Traffic Police Capt (retd) Ahmad Mobin Zaidi and Acting DIG (Operations) Zahid Gondal were among the six police officials martyred in the attack.
