LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan Cricket board has announced a fifteen members squad for the upcoming World Cup 2015 under the captaincy of Misbah-ul-Haq. Mohammad Hafeez, Shahid Afridi and Younis Khan are also part the team.
While addressing a press conference Chief Selector Moeen Khan revealed all the fifteen names that will be representing Pakistan in the mega event. The squad includes Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfraz Ahmed, Younis Khan, Haris Sohail, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Irfan, Junaid khan, Ihsan Adil, Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz, Sohaib Maqsood and Misbah-ul-Haq.
He said that the team has been selected without any personal interest, but on the basis of fitness, discipline, performance in recent pentagonal cup and experience. The whole selection committee is hopeful about the performance of the team, and we expect the same support from the nation, he added.
“Pakistan is going to play a mega event in Australia and New Zealand after 23 years. I was part of the team that picked the World Cup trophy in 1992, hence it’s a prestigious matter for me to be part of the management once again” he expressed. All the fifteen players were approved by Sheharyar Khan, Chairman PCB, he explained. While answering question about dropping Shoaib Malik from the squad chief selector told that we have been considering Malik for the middle order but we have got Haris Sohail in his place, as a younger talented player. Sarfraz Ahmed will be a stand by opener while Umar Akmal will be strengthening the middle order and the tail as well, he vowed. Former Captain the National Team expressed his best wishes for Misbah-ul-Haq, the current captain, for a successful journey through the world cup.
