ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Islamabad High Court will deliver its sentence in the former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer assassination case on Monday.
Media reports said a two-judge bench had reserved the decision a month ago.
Taseer’s self-confessed killer Mumtaz Qadri had challenged the decision in the high court and had lodged a mercy appeal.
In October 2011, an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi found Qadri guilty of murdering Salmaan Taseer and sentenced him to death.
Taseer had urged reforms to the country’s blasphemy laws.
