QUETTA (Online) – Fatima Jinnah General and Chest Hospital (FJGCH) lacks basic facilities of diagnosing Congo virus in Quetta.
Only a 10 beds isolation ward is existing in this hospital wherein patients from all over Balochistan and Afghanistan are provided treatment.
The diagnosis of this virus is made through blood test but no such arrangement is available in isolation ward. The blood samples are sent to Islamabad for laboratory tests.
No facility of PCR machine, dialysis machine, ventilator is available in the ward and even blood bank ward has not been set up.
Doctors and paramedical staff is not having any specific protected dress. Therefore, the citizens are facing perpetual threat of transmission of Congo virus due to lack of facilities.
In the current year 100 patients of Congo virus were reported in the hospital and 20 among them died.
