Hindu community celebrates Diwali in Lahore

LAHORE – The local Hindu community celebrated Diwali with traditional fervour and zeal here on Wednesday.

In this regard, a central ceremony was held at Krishna Mandar Ravi road.

Acting chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Tahir Ehsan congratulated the Hindu community. Secretary Board Tariq Wazir, Imran Gondal, Hindu leader Dr Munawar Chand besides leaders of Muslim and minority attended the ceremony.

Krishna Mandar had been decorated with colourful lights while men and women of Hindu community performed their rituals.

A cake was cut and gifts distributed among the participants on the occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary Board Tariq Wazir said that minorities living in Pakistan have completed liberty and were enjoying all facilities. Diwali is the message of happiness and name of lights, he added.

Hindu leader Dr Munawar Chand thanked the government and ETPB for making good arrangements for Diwali ceremony in a befitting manner.
