Water share issue with provinces to be resolved soon, vows Vawda

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Water Resources Muhammad Faisal Vawda on Wednesday assured that water share issue will be resolved with the provinces on war-footing basis and due share will be given as per 1991 Accord to Sindh.

Replying to a calling attention notice, the minister said that the federal government has been working to immediately resolve the issue of non-provision of due water to Sindh and other provinces according to 1991 Accord.
He said that the ministry is in touch with the provincial government of Sindh to resolve the issue. He added the federal government is also ready to listen the suggestions of the parliamentarians on the matter.

He said that the former government had intentionally stopped using telemetry system to avoid giving due share to Sindh through verbal order. He added there is a good understanding with the Chief Minister Sindh on the matter of water sharing to the province.

He said that presently manual gauges are being used in place of telemetry system due to which the actual figures are not clear.

He said that 58% water is being theft in Karachi besides leakages and assured to resolve this matter with the support of Sindh government.

Nawab Muhammad Yousaf Talpur, Syed Naveed Qamar, Shazia Marri, Pir Noor Muhammad Shah Jeelani, Zulfiqar Bachani and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also spoke on the issue.
