Three Ansarul Sharia terrorists arrested from Multan, Quetta

KARACHI – Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) have arrested a suspected terrorist of banned outfit Ansarul Sharia during a raid in Punjab’s city of Multan on early Thursday.

Talha Ansari was hiding in Multan after fleeing from Karachi, where police has been actively conducting a crackdown against the Ansarul Sharia group, Geo News reported while quoting sources.

“The accused group came to the forefront when evidence was found and arrests were made after the attack on Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan last week”, the report added.

The detained alleged terrorist’s accomplices have already been arrested in Karachi. The officials have started further interrogation.

Similarly, two suspected terrorists belonging to Ansarul Sharia were arrested by law enforcement agencies from Quetta and Pishin.

One of these suspects is believed to be a professor at the Karachi University, identified as Mushtaq. The other, named Mufti Habibullah, owns seminaries in Karachi and Hyderabad, the channel further reported.

Earlier this week, the head of Ansarul Shariah in Pakistan was arrested from Karachi’s Kaneez Fatima society, in a major breakthrough against the terrorist organisation linked to recent attacks in the city.

The terrorist Sheheryar, who went by the alias Dr Abdullah Hashmi, worked as an IT expert in computer department of NED University. He had received his Master’s degree in Applied Physics from the University of Karachi, it added.
