KARACHI – The federal government approved the grant of the additional charge of the post of chief executive officer (CEO) Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to Aviation Division Secretary Saqib Aziz on Thursday.
A notification issued by the federal government on Wednesday says “the federal government has been pleased to approve the grant of additional charge of CEO of PIA to Saqib Aziz (BS 22), secretary aviation with immediate effect and until further orders”.

Mr. Aziz who had a long experience of administration and held various senior government positions already holds the charge of chairman of PIA.
Earlier, Supreme Court sacked the PIA CEO Musharraf Rasool Cyan, terming his appointment illegal.
The three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar bench remarked that Cyan did not meet the requirements to be appointed CEO of the PIA.
