Massive 6.3 earthquake jolts Gwadar, Pasni

GWADAR – A massive 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck off the Arabian Sea coast of Pakistan in the wee hours of Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The shallow quake struck at 3:03 am with the epicentre 25.9 kilometres (14 miles) southwest of the coastal town of Pasni, the USGS said.

Shortly after the quake, locals woke in a panic and rushed out of their homes reciting verses from the Holy Quran.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the quake, which was centered between the Chinese-operated port of Gwadar and Pasni in Balochistan province.
