OPC help UK based Pakistani to getting back Rs 6.6 million from fraudulent

ISLAMABAD – Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab has helped a UK-based Pakistani to get back Rs 6.6 million which he lent to someone for setting up a textile unit.

Commissioner OPC Afzal Bhatti said that Yasir Arafat filed a complaint with OPC stating that he gave Rs 6.6 million to Bashir Ahmed for establishing a textile unit in Sahiwal sometime ago. However, Bashir Ahmed fraudulently showed a loss of Rs.5.0 million to the complainant.

Later on, Bashir Ahmed gave five different cheques to Yasir Arafat which were subsequently dishonoured. The complainant also alleged that despite registration of a FIR, local police has been reluctant to arrest Bashir Ahmed.

Commissioner OPC stated that after lodging a formal complaint, OPC pursued the case vigorously and ensured repayment of Rs 6.6 million to the complainant Yasir Arafat.-Online
