KARACHI – Renowned religious scholar Allama Abbas Kumaili passed away at the age of 70 in Karachi on Saturday.
The cleric was undergoing medical treatment at a private hospital when he breathed his last; he was also head of Jafria Alliance Pakistan and raised his voice for Muslims of Palestine and Kashmir; he served as a Senator as well.
His son, Allama Ali Akbar Kumaili was gunned down by unknown assailants in 2014.
Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the death of noted religious scholar Allama Abbas Kumaili.
The prime minister said that late Allama Kumaili was a strong voice for the unity of Muslims and sectarian harmony.
He also prayed for the departed soul and the bereaved family, PM office media wing in a press release said.
