Pakistan, United Kingdom agree to prepare three-year plan to improve bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan and the United Kingdom Tuesday agreed to prepare a three-year roadmap 2016-18 to bolster cooperation in different fields.

The understanding came at a meeting between Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond during talks in Islamabad.

Later, addressing a joint news conference, the Advisor on Foreign Affairs said the next round of strategic dialogue between the two countries will be held in next few weeks.

Sartaj Aziz said both Pakistan and Britain share convergence of views on regional and international issues and committed to further enhance their multifaceted relations.

The UK’s Foreign Secretary, in his remarks said both the countries enjoy excellent relations spanning over decades.

He welcomed Pakistan’s efforts for reconciliation in Afghanistan and said during discussion the two sides deliberated as to how the international community to support the Afghan reconciliation process.
