Asad Umar to head NA s Standing Committee on Finance

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government has decided to entrust former finance minister Asad Umar with new responsibility as Chairman of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance.

Umar, who stepped down as finance minister last month after being offered another portfolio, has been reportedly informed about the decision made by Prime Minister Imran Khan; Umar would replace PTI’s Faiz Ullah.

According to local media reports, PTI’s Chief Whip Aamir Dogar has been asked to execute the appointment; an official notification in this regard is awaited.

The decision came a day after the premier had a one-to-one interaction with Umar in which the latter was reportedly asked to rejoin the federal cabinet.

Soon after the meeting, Umar had negated news reports that he was going to join the cabinet that underwent a major reshuffle last month.
