PM Secretariat to be converted on solar energy: Fawad

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Wednesday said Prime Minister Secretariat was being converted on solar energy.

Addressing a press conference, he said science and technology were must for the development of the country.

He said currently, the country had three universities specifically for science and technology, adding the universities would prepare the curriculum for the science students.

He said modern laboratories would be established for the students of 9th to 12th classes, while separate programmes would also be initiated for the girls having an interest in the science subjects.

The minister claimed that Pakistan would beat India in space technology, adding Pakistan would send its first astronaut to space in 2022.

He informed that the month of August would be celebrated as the month of science and technology.
Halal Food Authority was being made functional, while its laboratories would also be ungraded, he added.

The minister said five years lunar calendar would be prepared within the next two weeks. He said the moon was being sighted by old technology of microscopes adding now it would be seen through modern technology to eliminate differences among the Muslims on the issue.

He said initially around 30 villages would be provided clean water by utilizing the latest technology.

Highlighting his initiatives while holding the charge of information minister, Fawad said he tried to bring transparency in the advertisement system and saved Rs1 billion on account of advertisements.

The same kind of efforts was also being made for bringing reforms in the science and technology ministry, he added.
