34,773 Pakistanis visited Malaysia in first half of 2018

LAHORE – Malaysia has recorded 34,773 tourists from Pakistan during January to June 2018, depicting a growth of 29.4 percent as compared to the preceding period, said Malaysian Consul General Khairul Nazran Abdur Rahman on Monday.

Talking to journalists here, he said the number of Pakistani tourists to Malaysia was expected to further increase due to steady measures being taken to facilitate tourists intending to visit his country.

With specific reference to Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM) 2018, he said that the Tourism Malaysia had yet another year of successful participation in PTM 2018.

This year Tourism Malaysia was joined by 23 Malaysian organizations as well as Malaysian cultural performers. The performers highlighted the rich culture of Malaysia by performing various Malaysian dances at the Malaysian booth as well as at the main stage.

Moreover, he said that the objectives of the participation in this travel mart were to increase the awareness and interest of tourists and travel agents from Pakistan of the exciting potential that Malaysia presented as the preferred travel destination in Asia.

This, he said was also to renew Malaysia’s commitment and support for the Pakistani travel industry in their efforts to promote Malaysia, to keep the Pakistani counterparts abreast of recent tourism
developments in Malaysia and to establish a wider network of contacts in the Pakistani tourism industry.

The Malaysian Consul General said during PTM 2018, Tourism Melaka also launched the “Visit Melaka Year 2019” to highlight the latest attractions that they have to offer to the Pakistani tourists.

“The campaign is set to make historical Melaka top-of-the-mind tourist destinations, encouraging tourists from Pakistan to visit Melaka,” said Khairul Nazran Abdul Rehman.

In addition, new attractions were said to be also being launched to provide tourists with more choices of attractions such as the world-class theatre performance on a 360-degree rotating audience platform.

In reply to a question, he said Malaysian cultural performers, besides their presentation at the PTM 2018 Gala Dinner event, are presently also performing at the Food & Cultural promotion at Beach Luxury Hotel to showcase various Malaysian cuisines as well as diverse cultures of Malaysia.
